Bringing an entire company to use new software can be hard. But it does not have to be!
In this guide, we will show you how you can take full advantage of Timeneye free trial to start tracking your time and your team’s work time!

In this guide, you will learn the following:

  • The best practices to test new software;
  • How to bring your team to Timeneye;
  • How to set up your team in the Timeneye workspace;
  • The Timeneye features that help you kickstart the process;
  • How to make sure you and your team remember to track your time.

Let’s dive in!

First thing first: start with a Timeneye trial

Hard to decide if you like software without even trying it. This is why you can test Timeneye for 30 days, for free, with as many people as you like!
However, our advice is to first test the software with a small group of people (you and some others in your department/team). Later on, you can add more people before the end of the trial, or you can upgrade your entire team to Timeneye once you have purchased the subscription.

How do I add people to the account?

You can invite users from the section ManagementTeam Members. All you need to do is add your team members' names and email addresses.
You can also import team members from Microsoft/ Google if your team uses Office 365 or Google Suite.
Right under the green New team members button, you will see the options to import your team members automatically from Microsoft or Google Workspace.

We also offer an option to import users from project management tools like AsanaBasecamp, and Microsoft Planner.
To join your workspace, your team members has to accept the email invitation you will send them.

Need to bring some data in? Here is how to import it!

With Timeneye you do more than just get people on board!
You can also import dataproject lists, historic time tracking data, etc.

Note: you can use this function only in case you are an owner or an Admin.

At the bottom left side of your menu, clicking on Management>Import data, you will find two possibilities:

  • Import CSV Entries;
  •  Import CSV Projects.

In this way, you can import project lists from a CSV or timesheets from a CSV.
We recommend doing it if you have a lot of data or if you want to migrate part of the time you have already tracked in another software.

Another quick tip: use project templates

Once you have added your team members, you need them to track time between your projects.
And of course, in order to do that, you firstly need to have a project 😉
A quick way to create multiple projects at the same time, apart from the import feature we already mentioned, are the templates.
You can create one project, and then model all the other ones using the same project as a template.
This is particularly useful if the project and activities you do for your clients are all very similar.

Set up the daily reminder email

You and your team should all set up the daily reminder email since this email helps you all to remember to track time!
If the software detects that someone has tracked less time than usual, the user will receive a gentle email nudge to remind him/her to track time.

Best practices for getting in the habit of tracking time

  • Be a good example. If you are the one using the software daily, your teammates will as well;
  • Don’t introduce it in critical moments of the year, like near major deadlines. Time tracking will likely become an afterthought, and you will be risking sinking the effort;
  • Take advantage of the full, 30-day trial period;
  • Try, test, repeat. You may need a few days before finding the best way to fit it into your workflow. But when you will have found your way, it will be smooth sailing;
  • Explain the why. You should be the one knowing and understanding the value of time tracking and, consequently, you should share with team members the values and perks of time tracking software such as Timeneye.

Productivity awaits: head to your Timeneye workspace and try all these tips.
